Working together to discover new possibilities

My counselling practice has largely focused on providing services to two key populations: working with individuals with significant adjustment issues including P.T.S.D., stemming from traumatic life experiences, principally brain trauma, and other catastrophic injuries. An important aspect of this work has included providing education and support to family members of the traumatized client.

Additionally, I work with people with developmental disabilities who require assistance in a number of areas such as building life and social skills; sexuality, including sexual abuse and sexual safety, anger management, establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships among other issues.

I provide an outreach component in my counselling practice, which permits me to meet with clients in the comfort of their own homes when they are unable to access their community. This outreach practice essentially affords me the opportunity to travel to any area in the Lower Mainland and provide particularly challenging clients with early intervention in the hope of warding off the development of maladaptive coping mechanisms and to aid them in adjusting to the trauma, and cope with the loss and grief that they are living with.
